Landmark Trust Responds Dear Leslie I hope that you will be able to come over and stay at a Landmark some day, there's nothing like experiencing it first hand.
All that beer just didn't take the edge off, did it...? Hi, Having just read your article "Euro Basics" I was quite annoyed to see you associating soccer hooligans with Ireland. Obviously you know nothing about soccer - in fact anyone with a passing interest in sport would have well remembered how the pissed-but-merry Irish soccer fans made a positive contribution to recent World Cup and European Championship finals. For your information European soccer hooligans can be found primarily in England and Turkey but also in Holland and Germany, and to a lesser extent France, Spain, and Italy. There is no such thing as an Irish soccer hooligan - the breed does not exist. For a web site that is supposed to be providing useful tips for the traveller, coming out with rubbish like this does nothing for its or your credibility.
Dear Mr. Higgins Your comment spawned the most fascinating discussion among staff and friends, and they concluded the same thing you did: That I (the author of "Euro Basics") know nearly nothing of sport, soccer, Hooliganism, or Ireland. They do note as an aside, however, that in the curling world, hooliganism is practised by the participants and not the fans. So if you wish to pick a fight with us on curling, we'll see you and your proper shoes on the nearest rink where it will be brooms and big granite stones at ten paces.
